Well...
Dr. Guillot (kidney dr, BTV) talked with Dr. Shneider (liver dr, pitt) and they have decided to do two things- keep Mikaela on IV antibiotics (meropenem) for 3 to 4 more weeks and we need to visit CHP in a week or two instead of waiting until our scheduled appt. in Oct. So, staying on IV antibiotics means...YEP another PICC line! Mikaela will be NPO starting at midnight. Hopefully she will be one of the first ones in the morning so she can eat once she wakes up from her anesthesia. Needless to say, she was less then happy with that news -at this point who can blame her. She DOES NOT want to start school with that nasty old PICC line! Maybe we will need to do some retail therapy and find some new school clothes that will cover it even though I have reassured her it is ok. It is a worry for her. She has stayed pretty much fever free the rest today. She has been up most of the afternoon doing some walking around and even a craft project.
