Crazy Few Days

Well it's been awhile so here's the scoop---Thursday was pretty uneventful, just hoping to keep the temperture down, drink lots of fluids (so her creatinine, shows kidney function, number would come down) and move from IV pain meds to oral pain meds. There was a little trouble with the purlple port on her PICC- but a couple of TPA(tissue plasminogen activator: AKA, de-clotter) treatments and all is well- thank goodness because redoing the PICC was really not an option in Mikaela's mind!

Friday Mikaela was feeling better and doing everything she was supposed to so we got the happy news we were going to be discharged!! About 2:30 we were heading out the door. It was great to be home and get some fresh air. Friday night the VNA come over to help us with the first course of at home antibiotics (being a different medicine, the procedure is a bit different then the last IV antibiotics). In a short time Mikaela was a pro and we were feeling confident to try it on our own Saturday am.

After Mikaela's Saturday morning dose and yummy Bayside Bakery cinnamon rolls, everyone (except Mikaela and Aunt Lori) was headed out the door to watch Luke's football scrimmage when he called and said he was done and needed to be picked up-OOPS, they cancelled the last game! Everyone had to head back home (except Gramma Jean, who is staying with us this week to keep Mikaela company while Mikey and I are at work-THANKS GRAMMA JEAN!). It was so great to have family around to visit us in the hospital and welcome us home! All was going well until that temp came back and we had to call the doctor about 11:00pm. YEP you guessed it...we had to go back to the hospital! We were in the ER from 12:15-4:30am when we finally got taken back up to the children's unit. And here we are again waiting to see what the next step is going to be. They did blood cultures (one from each port of the PICC, and one from her hand), labs, new antibiotics, and anti-fungal IV meds. Mikaela is soooo hoping to get to go home today. She is getting anxious to do some school shopping and get ready for the first day on Wednesday. On a good note no temp all morning :)

We will keep you posted.
