Yesterday Mikaela had labs drawn at 8:45 then hung out with Mikey at Nichole's to have a quiet day. I went with Nichole back to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP) for Emily's follow up with the ortho dr. We took Nicholas with us and Bella and Courtney had a play date with some friends. Emily's x-ray looked good. Did you know broken femurs grow faster then non broken femurs. So, in the x-ray, it looked like the bones were still over lapping each other-which they were. It is what they want in hopes that both legs will be the same length. I thought that was a kind of interesting fact. Em will have her cast 6-10 more weeks! Well, one week down :). I hadn't heard anything about the labs so, since we were at the hospital (and since I was now a veteran at getting around) I thought I would stop by the gastro clinic and see if there was any news...nothing. But, on the drive home they called us with results - her labs were about the same as the labs on Monday but we could stop the IV antibiotics after her last dose last night and start the 10 day course of oral antibiotics today. They want labs drawn again on Monday (which we will do in Burlington). Mikaela has to leave her PICC line in - if she spikes another fever it's back to IV antibiotics. Our visiting nurse, Carol, came over one last time at 9:30pm to change the PICC line dressing. So, Mikaela was all set to head home today. Hopefully there will be no fever and the labs will look better in Burlington on Monday so the PICC line can come out :).
We will miss those amazing, crazy kiddos in PA but it will be nice to sleep in our own beds. Most importantly, it is good to see Mikaela feeling better. If this is going to happen while we are away from home, I'm glad it happened near a great children's hospital where we already have contacts and doctors.
PS-it's noon, we are on hwy 90 headed east- about 30 miles from Syracuse. Mikaela has been sleeping since we got on 90 in Erie :)
