AHHH News...
So-the MRI went well. M does have more fluid on her belly then she had when we were here on Thursday so the liver docs have called her renal doc to address that-a pill (lasix-sp?) that will make her pee more is probably the answer. I was HAPPY to see her liver specialist in the room reading/looking at the MRI images. Nothing really stood out when viewing her gall bladder and liver bile ducts (the think these
episodes a cases of colangitis). They want to aggressively treat the infection so tomorrow she is getting a PIC line :( so she can stay on IV antibiotics for a full 10 days (until Tuesday). Then she will be on oral antibiotics for 10 days and then on a different antibiotic for a long time (they didn't say how long.). We will probably get to go back to Nic's on Friday but we can't go home until she has labs and gets the PIC line out on Tuesday. We need to come back for follow up in early/mid September. I think Mikey and Peter are going to make plans with Steve to get the boys back to VT sooner. I'll keep you posted but hopefully there won't
be much more to report! Love to ALL.
Wedesday, August 4 - Update from Heather:
We are here tonight still. Off to wash the tye dye t, make MORE crafts and check out the healing garden. :)
Tuesday, August 3 - Lori reported:
As of about noon here Mikaela was feeling good, still waiting for MRI, and hoping to get released today along with cousin Emily. Emily will be in that cast, immobile for 6 weeks! She is still in quite a lot of pain and getting some strong meds. Her day has been brightened by a visit from Mikaela who made her a picture of herself in her pink cast. Thank God we have these super Summers women in our lives.
Monday, August 2 - Lori reported:
Mikaela had a good day at Pittsburgh Childrens Hospital - no morphine, doing crafts, until early this evening when the pain ratcheted back up severely. They think her pain is being caused by Peritonitis-an infection of the ducts of the liver. She had an MRI as part of her transplant check up Thursday, but they will do another tomorrow. She is in private room #902.
