After a few days in the hospital last weekend, Mikaela was able to start school on time as promised by Dr. Guillot on Sept. 1st. She left the hospital about 9:30am on Tuesday, August 31 and was at her 7th grade open house meeting her teachers by 10:45. Then a quick nap and off to do some shopping for school supplies and school clothes with Gramma Jean and me. After a pretty good night's sleep, she made it through the first two full days of school (Sept. 1st and 2nd). Her PICC line was a bit sluggish so on Friday, we had to go to the hospital and have some more PTA put in it and have the dressing changed. All went well and everything seems to be working fine again.
Saturday Aunt Marsha and Uncle Bill came over to visit and pick up Gramma Jean to take her back to NY on Sunday. Sunday we had the McSweeney's over for dinner and today Colleen and I took Fiona and Mikaela to the Burlington Square Mall to get their ears pierced and to go out to lunch (Three Tomatoes on Church Street-YUM). They have been waiting for this day since about 3rd grade! They both did great and are loving their new look. We have been invited to dinner at the Gaylord's tonight. Then early to bed to start off the new week all fresh!
On Tuesday this week Luke has his first football game as a high schooler! YEAH- can't wait...Go Seahorses. Then on Thursday, Mikaela and I leave for Pittsburgh to spend a couple of days with Nichole and her family (in Conneaut lake). Mikey flies into Pittsburgh on Sunday so we will get him from the airport and head to the Ronald McDonald House (hopefully- we are crossing our fingers that we get a call and they have a room for us for Sunday and Monday nights. It will be so easy since it is attached right to CHP. They will let us know on Saturday.) Off for labs bright and early Monday morning before meeting with all of the specialists, transplant team and transplant educator. We will all fly home together Tuesday morning. We will keep you posted. :)
